Volunteering

Wildwood is often helped by volunteers who work around the park. We can cater for all abilities and levels of experience. 

Due to the high demand for volunteer places, we have  waiting lists and may not be able to contact unsuccessful applicants.

Volunteers can apply to help out in the following areas: 

Keeper Team

If you want to help us look after our huge number of animals on site, or need to complete work experience for an animal management course, please contact us at the details below. You will be helping us prepare food including raw meat, and clearing out animal waste. The work is demanding and requires a certain level of physical fitness. Wildwood has only limited spaces for volunteers so there is often a waiting list for these positions.

You will need to be over 18 except if you are on a recognised animal care course and then you can be 16 or over. Please note that due to the high volumes of applications to volunteer with the keeper team we may not be able to contact unsuccessul applicants.

Ranger Team

Wildwood is set in many acres of ancient woodland, and needs your help in keeping this in top condition, as well as helping us construct and maintain animal enclosures. If you have practical skills, and would like to help our team, then please contact the Volunteer Coordinater  on 01227 712111.

Wildwood has collaborated with the charity Mind to enable people who are mental health service users the opportunity to volunteer at Wildwood and learn new practical skills in our wonderful woodland surroundings. If you have direct experience of mental distress and would like to volunteer under this scheme, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator on 01227 712111.

Please note there are only limited spaces for volunteers, and in some cases there may be a waiting list for these positions. You must be over 18 to volunteer.
